Baby Namings
In our increasingly secular society, more and more people are moving away from traditional religious rituals. The traditional church christening ceremony is no longer an appropriate choice for many of us, but we still want to mark our children's arrival into the world.
I will work with you to write and deliver a beautiful, meaningful ceremony which is unique to you and your requirements. The beauty of a bespoke non-religious ceremony is that you can say exactly what you want to say, to make your ceremony completely meaningful and unique to you.
A naming ceremony’s purpose is to officially give a baby their name and to make the name known to all her friends and family. A naming ceremony has an extended purpose of presenting the baby to her community and to celebrate the arrival of a new person in that community, so everyone can share in the joy and excitement.
A naming ceremony usually has the following format:
A welcome and brief introduction.
A little bit about the family, circumstances and birth.
How the name was chosen.
The naming.
Promises for parents - where you respond to or make affirmations about how you would like to raise your child.
Promises for Guardians/Guide-Parents - where your Guardians/Guide-Parents, if you have chosen any, can respond to or make affirmations about the support they hope to offer your child.
Promises for everyone - you can choose to invite all your guests to join in with an affirmation of support in the future.
Ceremonies are also greatly enhanced by readings/poems/music from friends and family.
Cost for Baby Naming Ceremony: £200
(Includes planning meeting, writing, tailoring and delivery of ceremony.)
